My Lollipop requires activity for her board and sadly I had no idea what to say, so she was like; “You should talk about your Mauren/Litchell (LaurenxMitchell) love.” And I was like “But its not anything to do with Sinead or Nina…” And then she was like “So, just do it! Do it! *poke, poke, poke*” So here I am about to bore you with my like 600 reasons why I love this pairing, why they are the best, why I love them! I think I should say I do support over couplings; GeorgexNina (Gina/Neorge), AnniexSykes (Snnie/Aykes), DaisyxIvan. But yes MitchellxLauren are number 1 in my books.
Why?
Well it really started from my love of Lauren, when I started watching the series I was really into the characters of Nina and Lauren, there was something about them which stood out to me and I was pretty much happy with what I could see. I mean I really, really, really wish we could see Lauren before she was a vampire, I mean I didn’t want it to start before she was a vampire but you know if we were filled in with information like; her family, her life, her likes. I mean how did she and Mitchell meet, what attracted her to him or how did Mitchell pick her up you know. I wasn’t really that fond of Mitchell to start off with, I think it was mainly because I really wasn’t a fan of how he was treating Lauren, what he done to her and I was like; “Ugh…” when ever she went to see him but it was really the end of Lauren’s life which I started to notice this sudden connection which pulled me into the two of them. It is really weird but after I saw it I re-watched the episodes and noticed much more to the dynamic of this pairing. Actually it was very much the last episode she was in which I started to really notice it, especially after I watched Being Human Unearthed and I heard what Annabel said about her character.
Lauren was very much thrown into a world of vampires, she was surrounded by strangers and the last things she could remember was spending the night within wonderful bliss with Mitchell and them him biting her. To her Mitchell really is her only connection she had left back to her humanity, he made her what she was, he is the only one who really knew who she was before what happened, happened and knows that she is alive in a manner of speaking. What annoyed me at first and made me upset with Mitchell when I follow this idea is that he did abandon her to be left with strangers, Lauren was left confused and dazed without a clear idea of what to do and no choices but to rely upon those who could in the end hurt her more than what she was probably aware of. Though at first it comes over that Lauren is somewhat resentful about this fact and wants to cause him the pain that he has caused her, but to be honest as I watched this more and I don’t exactly think she was trying to hurt him. Lauren attempted to attack George because she wanted Mitchell’s attention, she was very much aware of their friendship and probably thought that by attacking and turning George that maybe Mitchell would come back to her. Because as selfish as it seems Lauren needed Mitchell, she didn’t want Seth or Herrick, she needed the very man who lead her down on this path to start off it.
I also very much think Lauren was unaware of how dangerous she was to Mitchell until the end, she was being used by Herrick and that to drag Mitchell back to the blood, the group. I believe if she had been lead by Mitchell on the right path then she would have been fine, but because she had been left, she had been taught by the people who wanted their ‘Big Bad John’ back she was dangerous. I like the description of what vampirism is in Being Human to describe this sort of problem; vampires are like drug addicts, Mitchell became clean and Lauren was an addict which Mitchell got addicted to the ‘drugs’. I understand if Mitchell got Lauren back she would very much have dragged him back to the monster he didn’t want to me, Lauren very much understood this in the end which is why she sacrificed herself for him. It was this time though Mitchell himself was probably aware that he needed her as much as she needed him, but Lauren was too far gone to be saved, too far addicted. I still believe even after she died Mitchell still harboured some feelings for her, this I think is really shown when he was toying around with that plate upon the bench. Though it is never out right mentioned, he as never said anything but it is the small actions which I think which speaks volumes.
Haha I should just write quick notes as to why I like them, explaining it all is hard;
1. Lauren needs Mitchell as much as he needs her.
2. Lauren sacrificed herself for Mitchell’s better good.
3. Mitchell didn’t want to kill her, he wanted her to be there.
4. Mitchell offered in two times to run off with her; Episode 1 and Episode 5.
5. Lauren understood everything Mitchell was going through, he understood what she went through.
